4 Days Tsavo & Amboseli

Day 1: Nairobi to Lumo Community Wildlife Sanctuary

A long drive to Lumo today, but well worth it when we get to our destination.  Along the way we will drive through Tsavo National Park and hopefully spot some zebras or hyenas along the highway.  Lumo Community Sanctuary has a number of activities available including:

  • Visiting schools within Tsavo Eco-system, planting trees with kids and having an opportunity to visit some families
  • Visiting the orphanage
  • Exploring the Taita Hills which have a rich history for sacrifices and rituals
  • Visiting the biggest Baobab tree in the world within Tsavo
  • Learning how to cook African traditional foods
  • Having an opportunity to play with local kids and learning Kiswahili language
  • Making paper out of elephant dung
  • Nature walks and hill climbing
  • Bird watching
  • Learning some skills of making African artifacts like basket weaving

Included Meals: Dinner

Day 2: Lumo Sanctuary

In the morning, go on patrol around the wildlife reserve checking for animal snares.  The rest of the day is for you to enjoy as you wish – take a game drive, or visit the village to participate in some of the activities listed above.
Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3: Lumo Sanctuary to Amboseli

After breakfast we drive to Amboseli National Park nestled at the foothills of Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. Amboseli is a top destination in Kenya for wildlife. Indeed, one of the classic images of East Africa is that of a herd of elephant strolling across the plains with the snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro in the background. It is to catch this sight that people flood to Amboseli National Park. While Kilimanjaro is actually across the border in Tanzania, Amboseli has a perfect view of the world’s tallest freestanding mountain, rising an impressive 5895 metres above the plains.  We will arrive in time for an afternoon game drive.
Included meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 4: Amboseli to Nairobi

The best time to view the majestic mountain is at dawn, when the clouds lift and the light is clear and soft.  We will take an early morning game drive to witness the African sunrise lighten the majestic mountain, distributing its golden rays to the dry savannah of Amboseli National Park. It’s a very good photo opportunity.  After this drive we return to the Camp for breakfast before departing for Nairobi.
Included meals: Breakfast
